You probably have a junk drawer at home.  It holds a mishmash of nuts and bolts, some old keys, a pair of pliers, a night-light bulb, and a roll of duct tape.
 
Your body also collects junk.  This "junk" comes from the food you eat, the water you drink, and the air you breathe.  It includes pesticides, heavy metals, chemicals, caffeine, pollution, and preservatives.
 
Also, simply living creates wastes.  As you read this, your body is making ammonia and carbon dioxide.  These and other poisons are created by the workings of each cell.  It's the job of your liver, lymphatic system, kidneys, lungs, intestines, blood, and skin to filter these toxins from your body.  When overloaded, your organs don't work as well.  Like a furnace with a clogged filter, it collects toxins, and becomes less efficient.
 
If these toxins aren't eliminated, your well-being is compromised.

Purification & Weight Loss Program Overview
 
Supplement Protocol
Days 1-7:
    •    Shake: 2 or 3 per day.  Includes: 2 scoops SP Complete, 1/2 - 1 scoop Greens First and 1 tablespoon Whole Food Fiber mixed with water.
    •    SP Cleanse: 7 capsules, 3 times per day (Total: 21 capsules per day).
Days 8-21:
    •    Shake: 2 or 3 per day.  Includes: 2 scoops SP Complete, 1/2 - 1 scoop Greens First and 1 tablespoon Whole Food Fiber mixed with water.
    •    SP Green Food: 5 capsules, 2 times per day (Total: 10 capsules per day).
 
What to Eat and Not to Eat
Days 1-21:
Raw and lightly cooked vegetables and fruits.  Lentils, brown rice or wild rice (max 1-2 servings of lentils or 1 serving rice per day (1/2 cup serving size).
Days 11-21:
In addition to the above, you may also eat: Deep sea fish (e.g. salmon, cod, or sea bass) and poultry (chicken, etc.) 2-4 servings per day, with 1-2 servings being fish.  Protein serving size: 3 ounces.
Do Not Consume:
Alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, or other stimulants.  Nuts/seeds.  Dairy products (you can have butter).  Grains (except wild or brown rice).  Processed or refined foods.
 
 
PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS

The following outlines the Purification and Weight Loss Jumpstart Program you are about to embark on. Read this thoroughly and follow the program as directed with no variations. Call me if you need to discuss any concerns. I would recommend that you go a minimum of 21 days, or even up to 30 days. At the end of the detox it is important that we sit down and talk about the long-term plan to keep you healthy and address any other health concerns. It is possible that you may react negatively to foods you used to eat in the past as the body has now shifted into a higher level of function and elimination. It is therefore prudent not to return to junk food. If you do, your body will slowly adapt by storing toxins again and shifting into a lower state of function and while you may not feel the immediate effects from the junk food, your long term health will keep declining and will eventually lead more and more toward the state of dis-ease.
 
It is an exciting time for you as you are about to experience a state of health you may never have felt, or at least since you were young. The first 3-5 days are the hardest as you will likely be craving all the old foods. Don’t give in! Take this time to exercise extreme “Self Control”. After the 5th day you will find your old cravings diminishing and a newfound sense of wellbeing. Generally by days 7-10 you are functioning at a higher plane and your body and mind are clearing.
 
If you are craving carbohydrates (pasta, bread, potatoes, sugar, etc.) you can take an herb called “Gymnema” (1 tablet 3 times per day) that we will have in stock for you. This will be your lifesaver!
 
I want you to call if you experience anything unusual. Remember, this is a time of renewal. Use these 21 days to learn and regenerate. Take time for introspection, creative outlets, and do some special things for yourself, such as luxurious baths (with special salts) or a massage.
 
Be sure you attend all the meetings. You will learn about why you need to detox, share recipe ideas with other participants and learn to live life healthier and easier. Besides, it’s fun to corroborate with others doing the same thing!
 
What You Can Eat: Note that each week of the program allows different foods and different dosages of the supplements.
 
Vegies To Eat Unlimited Amounts Of:
  • Kale
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Cabbage (any kind)
  • Beets
  • Beet Greens
  • Mixed Spring Greens
  • Green Lettuces (no iceberg lettuce)
  • Collard Greens
  • Spinach
  • Red, Yellow & Green Peppers
  • Onions
  • Mushrooms
  • Carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Celery
  • Radishes
  • Swiss Chard
  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Artichokes
In addition to the above, you can have all the fresh, (not canned!) uncooked vegetables and fruits you would like, but avoid high sugar fruits and vegetables like corn, bananas, white potatoes and pineapple. You can eat apples, grapefruit, oranges, plums, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, turnips, parsnips, and yams which are lightly steamed in small portions. Again, especially eat lots of green and cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, avocado, cucumber, string beans, sprouts, celery, radishes, watercress, salad greens, spinach, and sea vegetables (kelp, dulse and nori). You can have any fruit and vegetable with a low glycemic index (see Page Diet Plan).
You may steam your vegetables lightly, but it is best to eat at least half of them raw. Try also to eat at least 60-75% vegetables and only 25-40% fruit. Try to get organic foods if possible; they are much higher in vital nutrients and will leave you feeling more satisfied. Eat a variety of foods; choose a rainbow of colors. Commercial salad dressings are not permissible. You may, however use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, minced fresh garlic, lemon juice, sea salt and black pepper.  Recipes for permitted homemade salad dressings are in the recipe booklet provided. Butter and olive oil are okay to use in small amounts. Choose organic butter, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Avoid margarine and hydrogenated oils.
 
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and other stimulants. If high caffeine user, sip 1 teaspoon coffee to avoid withdrawal headaches – 3 daysmaximum.
 
Eat frequently throughout the day. DO NOT skip meals.

Protein (days 11-21 only): Deep sea fish (e.g. salmon, cod, or sea bass) and poultry (chicken, etc.) 2-4 servings per day, with 1-2 servings being fish.  Protein serving size: 3 ounces.
Carbohydrates: Lentils, brown rice or wild rice (max 1-2 servings of lentils or 1 serving rice per day (1/2 cup serving size).
 
Arthritis: For those of you with arthritis, you will need to avoid all Citrus Fruits and “Nightshades” (peppers, eggplant, potato, paprika, and cayenne). Please also don’t smoke or use tobacco products.
Weight Loss: If you desire to increase weight loss, drink your shake 1 hour before you eat. This will allow you to enjoy your meal fully, but you will find you feel full faster.
The Shake: Even though the shake recipe says you can add fruit juice, it is best to avoid all juice and sugary fruits to help support normal blood sugar. If needed, you may add Stevia to sweeten the shake, but no artificial sweeteners!
Water: It is very important that you drink at least 8 glasses of water per day (or ½ your body weight in ounces per day – whichever is more). This helps to flush the toxins and avoid constipation and headaches. Spring or mineral water is best. No carbonation. Drink between meals. You can add fresh squeezed lemon or lime to your water if you desire.
Sleep: You will need to get 7-9 hours of sleep during this time. Try to not overwork. Spend more time relaxing.
Exercise: Exercise is critical to keep the toxins moving out of your tissues and out of your body. Best if you exercise until you sweat. Some older people may need to go a little easier. For them it is recommended to walk 20-30 minutes minimum, daily.   Daily walks are recommended for everyone. Breathe deeply during your walks. Light hydraulic exercising would be beneficial as well, however, avoid aggressive workouts with weights.
 
OPTIONAL ADJUNCTS TO THE PROGRAM
 
Massage: If possible, get weekly massages during this time. Especially lymphatic massages. Although this is not a required part of the program, it will facilitate a better cleanse by flushing the lymphatic system.
Sauna: Saunas help you to detox through the skin. They would be helpful during this program. Make sure to stay hydrated – drink extra water. Don’t stay in too long.
Colonics or Enemas: These help speed the elimination of toxins from the body. Colonics are “high enemas”, done by a technician. Coffee enemas are just that. Enemas using body-temperature coffee. Coffee enemas are particularly great for purging the liver and gallbladder. If you would like to add this component, contact me so I can give you proper instructions.
Baths: Detox baths help speed the elimination of toxins through the skin. There are special salts found at the health food store called “Detox Bath”, or you can use Epsom salts, special bath clays or powdered ginger.
Dry Skin Brushing: An excellent adjunct to the cleanse. Dry skin brushing helps remove the old dried waxes from lotions and soaps off your skin, as well as remove dead cells. This assists the body in removing toxins through the skin and helps the body’s natural oils come to the surface. Contact me for directions on dry skin brushing.
A Still Mind: Prayer, meditation and relaxation are an important part of your general wellbeing. Learning to still the mind and the body have healing effects that go beyond the physical body. Very helpful during this time and for your future health as well.
Fun: Try during this time to include fun activities. Try consciously to bring fun back into your life. Try some new fun activities.

What is purification?
 Purification (also known as detoxification or cleansing) is the process of addressing the natural toxins in the body. The liver, digestive tract, kidneys, bladder, lymphatic system, lungs, and skin are the major organ systems that are involved in the neutralization and elimination of toxins.

Because we are exposed to high levels of foreign substances and overconsume chemically-treated, synthetically-produced food, extra purification is needed. This purification program utilizes whole food supplements, pure food, and water to give the body the resources it needs so that it can purify and rebuild itself naturally. This program places an emphasis on the liver and colon because these two organs play a major role in supporting the digestive system and detoxification. This helps you to achieve a higher level of health by cleansing the body from the inside out.

As a society, we face increasing amounts of challenges in our environment. We encounter substances every day from the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink, including: medications, pesticides, heavy metals, fumes, synthetic materials, cigarette smoke, caffeine, preservatives, and much more. In addition to these environmental challenges, our bodies produce waste by-products as a result of normal metabolism (such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and free radicals) that need to be eliminated. If these toxins are not neutralized and eliminated, the result is sub-optimal health.

You may be asking if you have toxins in your body.  If you don’t have 2-3 bowel movements per day, every day, you are not eliminating toxins. Think for a moment of all the foods and drinks you have consumed over your lifetime. The amount could literally add up to tens of thousands of pounds. Our bodies eliminate much of the food, but what about the additives, preservatives, dyes, etc.?

Take a simple test:
 Do you or have you eaten processed foods? Do you eat non-organic fruits and vegetables? Do you eat meat and poultry that is not free-range? Do you consume genetically-altered food? Do you or have you ever used artificial sweeteners? Do you drink soda? Do the foods you eat have preservatives, additives, dyes or sweeteners added? Do you or have you ever consumed margarine or partially hydrogenated fats? Do you eat fast foods and/or eat out regularly? Do you fry, charbroil or grill foods? Do you drink coffee regularly? Do you drink alcohol? Do you drink tap water?
If a majority of your answers are yes, then it is likely that your diet contributes significantly to your toxic load. In addition to your diet, you are also exposed to other irritants such as cigarette smoke, pollution, hair dyes, hair spray, dry cleaning chemicals, cosmetics, exhaust fumes, soaps, perfumes, cleaners and drugs. This everyday exposure to these substances may have you feeling less than your best, experiencing: weight gain, fatigue or difficulty sleeping, headaches, poor digestion, food cravings, reduced mental clarity, low libido.

Weight loss is accomplished by supporting liver function. Healthy liver function supports the body in burning fat for energy. The nutrients and dietary recommendations in this Purification and Weight Loss Jumpstart Program revolve around feeding the body the nutrients it needs to support optimal liver function. In addition to its role in fat burning, the liver also helps regulate blood sugar. The liver converts any sugars that are not required for immediate energy needs into glycogen and fat. Glycogen is stored both in the liver and the muscle tissue. The fat is deposited into undesirable areas. So we want to support the liver in its ability to utilize and regulate blood sugar and fats.

As you embark on the Purification and Weight Loss Jumpstart Program within a few days you will generally feel increased energy, better digestion, less bloating, clearer skin, shinier hair, increase in the quantity of bowel movements, and the disappearance or lessening of past conditions (PMS, digestive problems, headaches, etc.)

Upon completion of the recommended program, you will have a different mindset about food, your body and your health. You may experience some or all of the following: Increased energy/vitality, improved overall health, weight reduction, improved digestion, improved physical appearance, removal of food addictions, clearer thinking and improved elimination.

The Purification and Weight Loss Jumpstart Program lasts for 3 weeks. During this time you will be taking specific nutrients (some in a shake) and eat a cleansing diet. Light exercise such as walking is recommended. There are 3 levels of intensity, which you are free to choose. The “Optimal” Program is recommended for most. We provide weekly support, on a regular basis, in a class where all who are participating are welcome, and encouraged to attend. There we will help with recipe ideas, teach more about the importance of detoxification, give general support and answer any questions you may have related to what you are experiencing during this program. Dr. Holly Carling will be monitoring your progress and supporting you on this program.
